This lamp is braided by hand by artisans in a fishers town called Essaouira (essa-weera, or es-sweera in Arabic) in the western Moroccan region of Meṛṛakec-Asfi, on the Atlantic coast.

The seagrass products have a greenish color, and ages beautifully over time when the seagrass becomes more yellow.
