Armband with chakra pendant, white
fáanlegir litir: white beads
efni: glass beads and bronze pendant
The small glass beads in this bracelet are called ‘seed beads’, they were worn by tribal women from Orissa, a state in eastern India. Many of these tribal women wear almost no clothes, but the body is covered with several strands of seed beads in many colours. The beads are even wrapped around the head.
Inspiration for the bronze pendant came from ancient wheel-shaped images of the crown chakra. The bracelets are made in small family workshops in India to a design by Sanny Bijvoet.
